Psalm 44:9-19
You have rejected and humiliated us and don’t march out with our armies.
You make us retreat from the enemy and they that hate us take the spoil.
You hand us over to be eaten like sheep and scatter us among the heathen.
You sell Your people for nothing and don’t make a profit from their price.
You make us an object of reproach to our neighbors, a source of mockery and ridicule to those around about us.
You make us a joke among the heathen, a laughing stock among the people.
My disgrace is before me all day long and shame has covered my face, because of the voice of the scorner and reviler, because of the enemy and the avenger.
All of this has happened to us, yet have we not forgotten You, nor betrayed Your covenant. Our hearts have not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from Your path, but You have crushed us in the haunt of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
